The author thinks that Cal will be able to provide information for Jason and co. (potential dangers) and also possibly be able to monitor Coast Guard communications in order to give Jason and the rest an early warning if he hears of any Coast Guard boats traveling to the Leonida Keys or any other smuggling route.
Rockstar Game has not yet explained to us how we will actually play with Cal Hampton during the time that Jason is getting himself involved in various criminal activities.
You can’t help but laugh at Cal online as he tries to keep himself busy and ‘research’ the gang’s next move. His online findings could lead to a very useful tool for Jason and the 2, and as is typical with Rockstar, whatever Cal is going to be in the game it will no doubt end up being very useful to the 2 as well.

Jason appears calm, cautious and focused on finding security. He does not seem to be searching for chaos simply because he enjoys it.
